Spreading Love to Local Events & Causes

It’s that time of year again! We’re embracing Soccer Saturdays, Football Fridays, apple cider donuts & pumpkin spice…as the nights start getting cooler and the leaves turn vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow. For most towns and organizations, fall is also known as fundraising season! While most initiatives took a pause due to pandemic considerations, many organizations have re-discovered means of making their events happen. And happen they are! We are proud to support so many great organizations in Bedford and surrounding towns. Below is a list of all events and details on how to join in on the fun with us!

Bedford Day

This year we celebrate the town’s 292nd birthday! This cherished event is one of Suzanne’s favorite days of the year. It takes place on Saturday, September 18th from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. The Bedford Day parade will begin at 10:30AM and then we’ll head over to Mudge Way for the fair. We are again supporting Bedford’s chapter of the Relay for Life. Stop by for some fun fall activities and to make a donation to the American Cancer Society via Relay for Life. Click here to learn more!

Friends for Matty - Matty’s 5K Road Race

Bedford Day will again feature a 5K road race before the rest of the day’s festivities kick off! The torch has been passed from the Danny Oates Memorial 5K to the Friends for Matty Foundation, a local organization that provides financial assistance to families with children who are battling cancer in memory of 5-year-old Matty Langone of Bedford, MA, who lost his battle with neuroblastoma in 2009. We have sponsored Friends for Matty at a silver sponsorship level for many years, and look forward to continued support of this important cause. Matty’s 5K Road Race starts at 8:30am on Saturday, September 18. The race starts and finishes at John Glenn Middle School. For more information or to register, click here.

Bedford High School Football

The Bedford Buccaneers take the field to start their 2021-2022 season at 7pm this Friday, September 10 at home on Sabourin Field against Shawsheen Tech. Suz & Co has been a longtime supporter of the BHS Football program, ever since our Transaction Manager, Maureen Eliason, was cheering for her sons from the sidelines while they played their hearts out. Check out the full season schedule here and mark your calendar for those Friday night lights!

Concord-Carlisle Community Chest

Earlier this year, we formed a new partnership with an outstanding organization in our neighboring communities. Buyer specialist, Darcy Heintz-Perkins, has lived in Concord for years and introduced us to this organization of neighbors helping neighbors. The mission of the Concord-Carlisle Community Chest is to engage the community to help neighbors in need. Since its inception in 1947, the Chest has strengthened the community by fundraising and allocating money to a broad range of human service organizations that help Concord and Carlisle, residents. Suz & Co looks forward to participating in upcoming events with the Chest, including a luncheon panel discussion on Wednesday, October 20. To learn more about the organization, click here.

St. Jude Walk/Run

Many of our closest friends & families are huge advocates of childhood cancer research organizations. One of the most widely recognized is St. Jude. For years, Suz & Co has supported participants of the Boston walk/run and is proud to be doing so again this year. Click here for more information, to register for the virtual walk/run on September 25, or to donate.

Marshfield Lobsterfest

We are so excited to have our dedicated South Shore Lead Agent, Katie Gerstel, participating in one of her favorite South Shore events, Marshfield LobsterFest, this Sunday, September 12. After a successful inaugural event in 2019, the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic. But the Chamber of Commerce is bringing it BACK bigger & better in 2021 (with appropriate COVID protocols in place, of course). The event features a local artisan fair, local lobster and food & local beer alongside all-day entertainment on two separate stages - the main stage and a children’s stage. Get your tickets today and keep an eye out for our Suz & Co banner!

BEST/PTO (Bedford Elementary Schools Together)

With a number of Bedford moms on our team, it’s only fitting that we support BEST/PTO! The mission of the BEST/PTO is to provide support, communication and enrichment to the students, families and school staff at both the Davis School (Grades K–2) and the Lane School (Grades 3–5). We were excited to participate as a sponsor for the Virtual Color Run last June (although we’re hopeful for an in-person run again next June!) and even got a few of our elementary-aged kids together for a group run. To learn more about the organization and its fundraising initiatives, visit the BEST/PTO website.
